Programs and Services

Providing Comprehensive Support for Preparedness and Response

The Sumas First Nation Emergency Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our community. We are here to serve you, and together, we are better prepared to face any challenges that may come our way

Training and Education

We have established an organizational structure to ensure that our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is staffed, organized, and ready for effective teamwork during emergency events.

Emergency
Response

We work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies such as floods, fires, and other natural or human-made events.

Community Awareness

We share timely information and resources to help members stay informed about safety, environmental changes, and community initiatives. By learning together and staying connected, we honour our responsibility to care for one another.

Equipment and Supplies

Our goal is to ensure the community has access to the tools and essential resources necessary to stay safe during floods, fires, and other emergencies.

Emergency Alert System

Through ConnectRocket, our Emergency Notification System, we provide timely and reliable communication during critical events. This system is designed to quickly share important updates and safety instructions.

Evacuation
Support

We coordinate evacuation support to ensure the safe and orderly movement of community members during emergencies. This includes identifying evacuation routes, establishing reception centres, and providing assistance for those in need.

Health & Safety Committee

We are accepting applications for community member volunteers to join the Sumas First Nation Health & Safety Committee. Volunteers play a key role in strengthening emergency preparedness, promoting safety, and ensuring our community’s voice is heard in important decisions. Our first meeting was held on January 22, 2025, and we look forward to welcoming new members to help guide initiatives that support the well-being and resilience of our Nation.
