The Health and Wellness Department at Sumas First Nation is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our members. Through programs and services rooted in both traditional knowledge and modern practices, we work to ensure that every individual has access to the care and resources they need. Our focus is on building a healthy, resilient community where all members can thrive today and for generations to come.

Activities That Strengthen Our People

In partnership with Stó:lō Nation Health Services, Fraser Health Authority, Fraser Valley Aboriginal Child & Family Services, and the First Nation Health Authority, Sumas provides the following health services for Sumas and Community members:

Food Skills Program

Hands-on workshops that help families build confidence in cooking, budgeting, and preparing healthy meals using fresh, nourishing ingredients.

Community Greenhouse

Use this space to write about your company, employee profiles and organizational culture; share your story and connect with customers.

Summer Youth Camps

Fun, active, and culturally grounded camps that give children and youth a chance to learn, explore, and grow together in a safe and secure environment.

Dollywood Imagination Library for Babies and Toddlers

A free monthly book-delivery program that helps spark a love of reading from the earliest years. Each child receives high-quality, age-appropriate books mailed directly to their home, supporting early learning and family bonding.

Community Wellness Days

Regular gatherings that bring community members together for health services, cultural activities, and supportive conversations. These days help promote balance, connection, and overall wellness for all ages.

Spring Break and Summer Wellness Activities

Seasonal programs designed to keep families active, engaged, and connected through recreation, cultural learning, and outdoor fun. These activities support a healthy lifestyle while strengthening community ties.
