What is this engagement session for? We want to fully inform and educate members about the GNR Department’s TFI plan (Trans-Boundary Flood Initiative), and gather community feedback for the future of the TFI. Your opinion and feedback can help shape an important environmental initiative that is close to home!
This event is kid-friendly!
We are delighted to have Serena Grayson of Serena G Artistry join us to provide face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon twisting for any children that parents bring to this event! Your kiddos will have a fabulous time while we discuss GNR’s TFI project.
About TFI:
On October 20, 2023, Semá:th First Nation joined Máthxwi and Leq’á:mel First Nations, the Nooksack Indian Tribe, Lummi Nation, the City of Abbotsford, Whatcom County, British Columbia, and Washington State in signing the “Framework for Collaborative Transboundary Flood Management in the Nooksack and Sumas Watersheds.” The initiative is a multi-government agreement to mitigate flood risks and restore salmon habitat in portions of BC’s Fraser Valley and Washington State’s Whatcom County.
