Sumas First Nation extends our sincere thanks to Global News for their coverage of the Lightning Rock Ceremony, held on October 19, 2025. Lightning Rock is a sacred site of immense cultural, historical, and spiritual importance to the Semá:th people, and the Nation gathered to celebrate the formal return of these lands (the land was returned on March 31, 2025).

Lightning Rock stands as a place of remembrance and reverence, a powerful reminder of our ancestors and the deep connection we hold to this land since time immemorial. Through this story, we are honoured to share the significance of this sacred place and the responsibility we carry to protect it for future generations.
